Ira Lewis
AMHERST – Ira Ross Lewis, 90 years of age, of Amherst, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Gables Lodge, Amherst. Born in Lynn Mountain, NS, he was a son of the late Howard & Eliza Jane Lewis.
A “Jack of All Trades,” he worked at coal mining, railroading, truck driving and lumbering. He was a former member of the Amherst Legion. A lover of music he played the mouth organ and the guitar.
Ross will be sadly missed by his son, Wayne (Jeannie), Maccan; daughter, Carolyn (Robert) Belliveau, River Hebert; three grandchildren, Connie, Anthony and Warren; two great grandchildren, Bradley and Sally; a brother, Clarence (Doreen), Lower Maccan; nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife the former Gertrude Quinn, siblings, Ida, Nellie, Annie, Aaron Elsie and Eva.
Arrangements are under the direction of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, River Hebert where visiting hours were held on Monday, November 25, 2013, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service then held at the Furlong-Jones Funeral Home River Hebert on Tuesday, November 26 at 2 p.m. Burial to take place in the Lower River Hebert Cemetery.
