It is with great sadness that after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Roy has passed peacefully away with his family by his side on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit in his 64th year. Roy will be forever missed and loved by his ­companion of 22 years, Theresa Carew; his sister, Barb, who was like a second mother to him; daughters: Amanda (Roy), Corner Brook and Krista (Sean), ON; grandchildren: Joscelyn and Jacob, Corner Brook; Theresa’s daughters: Tonya (Richard), Corner Brook and Marie (Alan), Curling; brothers and sisters: Barb (Al) Rowe, Irishtown, Maureen Smith, Corner Brook, Audrey Duffenais, Lourdes, Wayne (Claudine), Montreal, Ned (Eileen), Curling, Ron (Maxine), Curling. He will also be dearly missed by his sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, including one who was very close to his heart, Mary van Maastricht and his aunt Angeline; Theresa’s family: mother, Mary Gardiner; sister, Joan (Larry) and her brothers: Ray (Shirley), Kevin and Johnny, as well as a large circle of friends who knew him as “Buz”. Roy will be reunited with his family in ­heaven, as he was predeceased by his parents: Margaret (1997) and Charles (1995); sisters: Margaret Tucker (1982) and Shirley Chaulk (1989); brothers: Tom Williams (2005) and Dave Williams (2013). Family will be receiving friends at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road, on Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. from The Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer with Father Edward Terry officiating. Interment will follow from Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to WMR Hospital, Palliative Care Unit.
