Ernest Francis 'Ernie Buck' Carey

Born In: Bras d'Or

Passed in: Florence
Passed on: November 28th, 2013

It is with heavy hearts, we regretfully announce the passing of Ernie 'Buck' on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
He fought hard against cancer, and showed everyone he was going to pass the same way he lived; In his own way and on his own terms, which he did, with the constant love and support of his friends and relatives.
Born in Bras d’Or, he was the loving son of Muriel (Long) and the late Robert Carey.
Ernie happily worked hard at Hilltop Alignment for 30 years with his lifetime friend and honorary brother Adrain Blinkhorn. He was a people person he will be missed by so many (young and old) because he left an impression on everyone he met either by helping them out or just by making them laugh (his specialty). He was everybody’s friend. The Bucker always had a smile and an amazing story to share. It is our hope that these stories and memories live on.
Besides his mother, he leaves behind (the love of his life) his wife of 35 years, Sharon (Buffett); sons, (who always made him proud), Curtis (Tara), Miramichi, N.B., and Jason (Megan), at home; sisters, Gloria (Ernie) Confiant, Brampton, Ont., Verna (Bernie), Bell Island, N.L., Pammie (Donnie), Sydney, Rossie (Peter) Forrest, Florence, Nancy (Leroy) Pyke, Dartmouth. Ernie was very proud of his family and leaving them proved to be the hardest thing he would ever do. Ernie will also be missed by the Buffett family, Barry (Francis), Cecil (Edie), Bernie (Deanna), Yvonne, Joan (Sandy), Earl, Mary, Cameron (Doreen), Olive (Bob) Joanne (Greg) and Wayne as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Ernie will be lovingly greeted by his family that have gone before him, his father Robert, and brothers, Kenny and Rickey.
There will be no visitation. Memorial Mass to celebrate Ernie’s life will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or, at 10:30am with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines.
