BARRY, GEORGE (GEORDIE) - It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of George (Geordie) Martin Barry of Miramichi, New Brunswick, on Monday, December 2nd, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 76. Born in the Miramichi, George was the son of the late William and Helen (Cripps) Barry and husband of the late Josephine Barry who passed away 2009. He went to St. Thomas High School and graduated valedictorian of his class in 1955. He earned a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education, Masters in Education and Educational Specialist Degree. George was class president on numerous occasions. George Barry taught for 32 years and spent most of that time teaching Geography at Fredericton High School. George was loved by all of his students and colleagues alike. He had an amazing sense of humor and an ability to effortlessly engage his students in the curriculum. George is survived by his two sons: Kevin (Heather) and Shaun (Tania) and his two daughters: Cindy Keating (David) and Shirley Riordon (John). In addition he leaves 11 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers: Ray, Ming (Harry), Willie, Riordon and his sisters: Shirley and Helen.
Mr. George Barry is resting at Maher's Funeral Home, Miramichi on Wednesday, December 4th, 2013 from 7 to 9pm and on Thursday, December 5th, 2013 from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 6th, 2013 at 11am at St. Michael's Basilica with Fr John Fraser officiating. As expressions of sympathy donations to the New Brunswick Heart & Stroke Foundation or the St. Michael's Renovation Fund would be appreciated.
