CLAUDIA MAYER

Born: October 13th, 1919

Passed in: Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada
Passed on: November 27th, 2013

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our Mother, Claudia Dorothy Mayer (nee Hollinger), on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at Berwick on the Park, in Kamloops, BC, with family beside her.

Claudia is survived by her husband of 67 years, Sylva Joseph (Peter) Mayer, her five children Barbara, Maureen (Marcel), Patrick (Lynne), Jane and Donald; grandchildren Patrick, Michael, Shannon, Justin, Joel, Ryan, Stevie-Marie, Lauren, Kari, Craig and seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Claudia was born in Schreiber, Ontario on October 13, 1919. She married her husband, S.J. (Peter) Mayer in 1947 in Vancouver, BC. Five children soon followed. Mom loved her role as a wife, mother and homemaker. The family moved often, following Father's career with Canadian National Railways, living in Vancouver, Prince Rupert, Prince George, Montreal and Winnipeg before retiring to Qualicum Beach, BC in 1977. A final move to Kamloops came in 1999.

Mom enjoyed a very full life. She had a wonderful sense of humour with a quick and sharp wit. She loved to play the piano and sing as well as curl and golf. She and Father travelled to Seattle to watch baseball and spend the winter months in Arizona to golf, gamble and visit with friends.

Our deepest gratitude goes to the staff at Berwick on the Park Retirement Home for their wonderful care of our wife and mother during her last days. Special thanks to Mary Ann and Jennifer of the North Thompson Funeral Home who helped the family both professionally and compassionately through this difficult time.

Mom, you will forever be missed
and lovingly remembered
each and every day.

A Funeral Mass was held on Friday, November 29, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
