Bryan Handwork

Passed on: December 1st, 2013

HANDWORK, BRYAN FRANCIS-It is with heavy hearts, that the family announces the passing of a loving husband and father, Bryan Francis Handwork on December 1, 2013, after a valiant fight with cancer. Bryan was born in Pangman, SK on September 7, 1945. In 1955, his family moved to Cabri. Here, he became a boy scout and played in the Cabri Brass Band. He graduated from Cabri High School in 1963. Bryan married his high school sweetheart, Joy Marjorie Peacock on December 7, 1963. They made Cabri their home. They were blessed with 3 wonderful children-Lonny, Corey and Marni. In 1978, they fulfilled their dream of living on the farm. With love and hard work, they built a beautiful life together. Bryan loved farming from when the seed went into the ground to the fall harvest when the grain went into the bin. His farming lifestyle included having horses, working in his shop, keeping the yard neat in the summer and cleared of snow in the winter. His pristine work shop was a place where Bryan tinkered, fixed and maintained almost anything. With children on the farm, he kept busy with maintaining the swimming pool, being a taxi driver, keeping 3 motorcycles working and then came three teenagers driving! In addition to farming, for almost the past twenty years, Bryan worked as caretaker for the Cabri Housing Authority. Bryan was a morning person and was a regular at both coffee rows. Bryan's hobbies included computer games, reading and watching TV. Bryan was a quiet, honorable and humble man. We will miss his wacky sense of humor and his words of wisdom. Left to mourn are his wife, Joy; his sons, Lonny and Corey, and his girls, Marni and Nola. He is also survived by his sister, Elaine; step-mother, Agatha; sister-in-law, Lorna; nieces, Linda and Laurie; and nephew, Lawrence. Predeceased by his mom, Louise in 1969 and his dad, Francis in 2011. The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Prairie Health Care Centre in Cabri, who went above and beyond in the care and compassion they showed Bryan. The family would be honored for the Cabri Hospital Ladies Auxiliary to receive donations, in loving memory of Bryan. A Come and Go in his honor will be held on December 8, 2013 at 1:30 at the Cabri Seniors Centre. Family interment at a later date. Warren's Funeral Home and Memory Gardens in care of arrangements.
