Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, December 09, 2013.
Born May 15, 1941 in Hoek, Netherlands, he was the son of the late Alphons and Jeannette (van Petegem) de Decker.
Fred immigrated to Canada in 1950. He grew up in Pictou County and attended Dalhousie University. He worked for General Motors and Ford Motor Company of Canada, before successfully owning and operating V8 Motors Ford Dealership in New Glasgow for 20 years. His gift of humor and storytelling will always be remembered by those who knew him. He was a kind and generous man to his friends, but his true passion was loving and providing for his family.
Survived by his loving wife of 47 years Judy (Garrison); two daughters, Julie de Decker (son Kieran and daughter Kira) of Abbotsford, BC, Valarie O’Reilly (Les) (sons Liam and Finn) of Issaquah, WA; sisters, Jean Patterson (Robert), Celiena Mosley (Robert), all of Carstairs, AB, Elly Harris (Don) of Halifax, Nancy Levy (Mike) of Bridgewater, NS, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to invite you to a celebration of life Fred’s way on Friday, December 13, 2013 from 2-5 p.m. at the Petite Riviere Vineyards, 1300 Italy Cross Rd, Crousetown, NS.
