Roderick MacNeil

Died peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital, Dec. 10, 2013 ,in his 77th year.
Born in Shenacadie, Cape Breton, N.S., May 15, 1937, he was the son of Donald John and Rachel MacNeil, Christmas Island, Cape Breton.
He is survived by his daughters, Shelley and Rachel; sons, Roderick, Jimmy, Patrick and Stephen; sisters, Ambrosa (Norman) MacNeil, Brantford, and Sr. Rachel of the Sisters of Saint Martha, Antigonish; brother, Stephen (Betty) MacNeil, Northside East Bay; and his friend and former wife, Donna (Kucharew) MacNeil.
Predeceased by his first wife, Jo-Ann (Sampson) MacNeil, his parents, D.J. and Rachel, brothers, Charles, Conrad (Pat), Brantford, sisters, Rose (Maurice) Collin, Brantford, and Blanche (Roddy) Townsend, North Sydney. He will be remembered by his grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Thorpe Brother Funeral Home and Chapel, 96 West St., Brantford, on Thursday, Dec. 11 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers at 8:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Basil's Roman Catholic Church, 50 Palace St., Friday, Dec. 12 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
As expression of sympathy donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society would be appreciated by the family.
