HALLETT, Aubrey Carmen, 84, Shelburne, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, British Columbia. Born October 26, 1929 in West Green Harbour he was a son of the late John Francois and Beulah Mae (Williams) Hallett. Aubrey grew up and lived with his first wife and family of four in West Green Harbour until moving to Shelburne in 1964. Aubrey was involved in the fishing industry for many years, retiring as captain in 1974 due to health reasons. He finished out his working career as a Provincial Civil Servant of the Public Works Department in Shelburne. Aubrey married Gladys Geraldine (Crowell) in 1951 in Shelburne and they had four children. In 1968 Gladys passed away and Aubrey remarried Joan Delaney in 1971. Aubrey enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter until his health deteriorated. He was a member of the golf club and spent many enjoyable days on the fairways with some of his many friends. He was a member of Taylor Lodge in Lockeport for over 60 years, sitting in many of the local and regional chairs over the years. He also spent many happy hours in his workshop working with wood, building model fishing boats, clocks in ships wheels and lobster trap coffee tables. He is survived by his oldest son Larry (Tanny), Singapore; daughter, Sharon (Darcy) Morrow, Kamloops; grandchildren, Kendall and John Hallett, Kamloops, Allison, Vancouver, Timothy Bower, Ottawa, Nicholas Bower (Amanda) and great-grandson, Haden, Gunning Cove; Tabitha Hallett, Kamloops, Sarah Mundy, Red Deer, great-granddaughter, Abagail and Trey. Aubrey was predeceased by his first wife, Gladys, second wife, Joan, youngest son, Kevin, (Sherry), oldest daughter, Gail Bower (Keith) and oldest grandson, Michael Bower. The funeral service will be held on Monday, December 16, in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, with Rev. Ed Trevors officiating. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Kidney or Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
