Thelma passed away peacefully on December 11th with her family by her side.

She was the loving wife of Arthur Morton (predeceased) for more than 60 years. She was also predeceased by her sister Irene and her two brothers Harold and Fred.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her two children Arthur (Doreen), Gail (Russell); four grandchildren Sean and Brendan, Sarah and Becky; six great-grandchildren Rhiannon and Aislinn, Ava and Reina, Jeremy and James.

Thelma was born in Montreal and spent her early years in Verdun. After she graduated from business college, she started working in the credit department at Simpsons and later on at the Bay. She loved to swim at the Verdun pool where she met her future husband Arthur. After a romantic courtship, they were married in 1948. Three years later they moved to St. Hubert with their young son Arthur. The city girl adapted to country life with all of her enthusiasm and energy. Soon after, they were living in a house that they built together. Ten years later, Gail, a daughter that they always wanted, was born.

In the years that followed, Thelma made many friends among her neighbours with her open-hearted affection. Her home became a welcoming place for family and friends. Their parties became legendary. Thelma was also known for her talents in the kitchen. She was comfortable cooking English, Ukrainian and French cuisine. This delighted not only her family, but her friends as well.

Mom loved the outdoors, skiing in the winter and swimming the lakes around North Hatley. Later, she also enjoyed camping with her family and grandchildren (Becky, Sarah and Martin). She also continued her undying passion for Les Canadiens hockey team.

Thelma enjoyed travelling across Canada, as well as visiting the relatives in England and Scotland on many occasions. She also played host to the many relatives who came to visit them from overseas.

After 40 years of living in their home in St. Hubert, Thelma and Arthur embarked on a new adventure. They moved to Kamloops, BC, and made a new home for themselves. Mom made new friends easily and everyone in her new surroundings was made to feel welcome.

In the early part of their stay in Kamloops, Mom enjoyed seeing her two grandsons grow into young men. Sean and Brendan developed a very close relationship with Mom and Dad. Mom also enjoyed camping with their grandchildren at Shuswap Lake. She became known as everyoneís îNanî. Mom was their greatest fan in all the sports they played.

Thelma will always be remembered as a wonderful mother, devoted wife, and a friend to all.

She will be dearly missed
