Doris Eileen (Wood) Marshall

Doris Eileen (Wood) Marshall, 94, of Meadow Vista, Oxford, NS, entered into eternal rest on December 18, 2013 with family by her side.
She was born to the late Miner and Myrtle (Brownell) Wood, on August 17, 1919 in Linden, NS. Doris married the late Francis Marshall in 1943 and they lived and raised their three children in Oxford.
Doris was an accomplished seamstress and was very proud of the many wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses she made for the local brides and their attendants. As well, she loved knitting, crocheting, quilting, and many other crafts.
Doris was an enthusiastic and skillful card player and loved a good game of dominoes. Always active in her community, Doris was a member of the Oxford Baptist Church and Ladies Social Circle, Nomads of Avrudaki El Shebab Santha, Cedar Temple No. 21 of Pythian Sisters and a 60 year member of the Colfax Rebekah Lodge No. 7. She was an original member of the Oxford Pioneer Heritage Club and belonged to the Oxford Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.
Doris will be greatly missed by her daughter, Frances Blue of Lower Sackville; sons, John (Jane) of New Glasgow, Brent (Donalda) of Oxford; six grandchildren, three step grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Also surviving are sisters Minnie Coates, Blanche Smith, Marguerite Hodgson and sister-in-law Edith Wood, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by her husband, Francis, brothers Merton Wood, Lloyd Wood, and George Wood (in infancy) and sisters Lillian Smith, Edna Card, and Florence Sonier.
Visitation will be from 6-9 pm on Friday, December 20, 2013 in the W. Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water Street, Oxford (602-447-2167). A funeral service will be held from the funeral home at 2 pm on Saturday, December 21, 2013. Pastor Chris Greer officiating. Reception to follow. A private family internment in the Pinegrove Cemetery will take place at a later date.
Family flowers only, donations in Doris' memory may be made to the Pinegrove Cemetery Fund or a charity of choice.

Mother was tired and weary,
Weary with toil and pain,
Put by her glasses and rocker,
She will not need them again.
Into Heaven's mansions she's entered,
Never to sigh or to weep,
After long years with life's struggles,
