Born: February 8th, 1917

Passed in: Glace Bay
Passed on: December 22nd, 2013

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harold Arthur Kinslow, age 96, a long time resident of Glace Bay.
Harold died peacefully, Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, in the presence of his son, Arthur and grandson, Keith.
Born in Glace Bay, Feb. 8, 1917, he was the son of the late Ernest Albert and Lila (Simmons) Kinslow.
Harold worked most of his life as a commercial fisherman and often enjoyed sharing his tales of life on the boats with anyone who would listen. He had a wonderful sense of humour and a quick wit. If someone said something, he could immediately shoot back a comment that was amusing and still on-topic. When he retired he discovered an interest in growing apple trees in his back yard and was quite successful in doing so. He was very proud to share the fruit when they had ripened.
Harold is survived by sons, Arthur, Russell (Eileen), Ernest (Marion); and daughter, Mary (William) Robinson; grandchildren, Keith, Darlene, Lianna, Tracey, Gordon, Ronald, Stephen, Karen, Valerie, Arlene, Brian, Melissa, Wendy and Todd. Also surviving are brothers, Russell and Thomas and sisters, Thelma Morgan and Phoebe Boudreau and several great-grandchildren. Harold will be sadly missed by those who loved him.
Harold was predeceased by his loving wife, Rosie Grace (Gilmet), a daughter, Donna Marie; brothers, Albert, Frank, Ernest and sisters, Etta (Boutilier), Nellie (Harris), Hazel (O’Neill), Kate (MacDonald), Dolly (Balcer) and Mae (Milley).
We would like to thank the Palliative Care Staff, VON nurses and Homecare for the wonderful attention they gave Harold during his final days.
Visitation for Harold will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery.
Donations in Harold’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
