Passed peacefully away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, PEI on December 21, 2013 at the age of 89 years. Devoted husband of Catherine (deceased) and dear father of James William Hume (Dawn), Saint John, NB and Cathy McPhail (Jay). Lovingly remembered by his six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Born in Kentucky, David was a veteran of World War II. He served as a corporal in the US Army and landed in France on D-Day June 6, 1944. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart Award. David moved to Mount Pearl from North Carolina in the late 1950's to work at Newfoundland Minerals in Long Pond, CBS. He remained in Mount Pearl until the early 2000's. Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home from where the memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 10 am. Internment in Sherwood Cemetery. By family request there will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation.
