SUSAN AITKEN

Passed in: Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada
Passed on: December 22nd, 2013

Susan Aitken of Kamloops, passed away on December 22, 2013 at 87 years of age.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children Linda (Bill) Uren of Edmonton, Gary Aitken of Hope and Janie (Murray) Campbell of Kamloops; grandchildren Chris (Alison) Uren, Julia-Lin (Jason) Ding of Edmonton, Erin (Marcel) Chenier of Morinville and Heather Campbell of Toronto and seven much loved great-grandchildren. She had four brothers Carl (Doris) Bueckert, Peter (Barbara) Bueckert, Frank (Sarah) Bueckert and Hank (Joyce) Bueckert and one sister Agnes (Alvin) Janz.

Susan was a strong, independent and classy lady, a wonderful role-model for her children and well loved by all whose life she touched. She adored her grandchildren, and was a hero to them all. They admired her for her strength and honesty and she was always proud of every one of them.

Susan's faith was strong and her faith saw her through many difficult times, not the least of which was her diagnosis of Alzheimer's. She was proud of her volunteer roles within the church and formed many life long friendships within the different churches that she was involved in.

Susan was a loving and caring mother and grandmother and demonstrated her love with a touch, a hug or a kiss. She especially loved children and enjoyed quietly watching them with a smile on her face. She made friends and admirers where ever she went.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

A Service of Remembrance will be held in the spring when all family members are able to attend. The family looks forward to seeing all of her friends at that time.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in Mom's honour to the Alzheimer's Society.

"I like to think that she looked out the window one last time the night she died, and saw with a new understanding the placement of the stars. I like to think something incomprehensibly vast and complex moved into her soul at that moment and that it, not pathology was what took her breath away."
