Judy Anne Johnson, 64, of 4396 Shore Rd., Eskasoni, passed away while battling cancer, on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, N.S.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Noel and Bridget (Marshall) Denny, she was the granddaughter of the late Keptin Simon Denny and great granddaughter of Grand Chief John Denny Jr.
She was a member of Holy Family parish, Eskasoni. Judy loved bingo, playing cards, double up, partying with family and friends, baking and she was a talented tea bisquit baker at Toney’s Place and she made the best meat pies and loved watching game shows on channel 30.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Johnson; six daughters, Michelle (Robert) Young; Victoria ‘Segot’, Truro; Erica (Kevin) Christmas; Shelley Gloade, Truro; Audrey Ann Young and Shelby Johnson; three sons, Michael Jr. (Miranda) Johnson; John (Geralyn) Johnson; Robbie (Sasha) Johnson, all of Eskasoni. She is also survived by seven sisters, Mary Jane (Stephen) Sanipass; Mildred (Ernest) Johnson; Pauline (Andrew) Francis; Yvonne (Joe Paul); Verna (Roger) Johnson; Harriet (Robert) Sheppard; all of Eskasoni; Elsa, Ontario; five brothers, Oliver, Alonzo, Noel (Janet), Yvon, all of Eskasoni; Simon (Kim), Wagmatcook; by 26 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Noel in 1991 and Bridget in 2006; two sisters, Martha in infancy and Olive, along with two brothers, Roland and Ira.
Visitation for the late Mrs. Judy Johnson will take place Sunday, Jan. 5 after 5 p.m. at the Gabriel Center, Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Family Church with Rev. Martin MacDougall officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery. Online condolences to www.twcurry.com.
