On Thursday, January 2, 2014, just one month short of her 100th birthday, Aileen Johnston Adams passed away at the Garden Home in Charlottetown with her family by her side.
Born on February 2, 1914, she is the last surviving member of 12 children born to her beloved parents, John and Annie (Shaw) Harris of O'Leary. She is survived by five of her seven children - Harris (Shirley) Johnston, Al (Muriel) Johnston, Gayle Johnston, Lane (Joe) Sampson and Lynanne (Peter) Love. She was predeceased by her youngest son, Avard, in 1951 and her oldest daughter, Verleen (Wickstrom) in 1991. She was also predeceased by her husbands, Ernest Johnston in 1968 and Russell Adams in 1988. She was "Mamma" to 15 grandchildren (Janet Johnston Bryanton, Randy Johnston, Donnie Johnston, Michael Johnston, Dawn Wickstrom Capicotto, Rick Wickstrom, Robb Wickstrom, Virginia Wickstrom Gibson, Vickie Johnston Wong, Paul Johnston, James Sampson, Sarah Love Callaghan, Karla Love Hickey, Jonathan Love and Diana Love) and 15 great-grandchildren.
Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home from where the funeral will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation Monday 4-7 p.m. Interment will take place later in the People's Cemetery, Charlottetown. Donations in her memory may be made to the P.E.I. Alzheimer Society.
