It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing or Karl Phillip Oakley on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014. Karl passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.Karl was born on Mira Road and was the son of the late James and Jemima (Howard) Oakley.
Karl’s working career was spent as a bricklayer in the Oakley family business. Karl was a kind a generous man who found much joy in the many simple pleasures of life, always putting himself last. Enjoying card games, long Sunday drives and friendly and teasing conversations were a few things that he delighted in most about life. He was a loyal brother, wonderful uncle and friend who was there to help anyone in need. There was always a smile on his lips and twinkle in his sky blue eyes. Our kind soul will be always missed and never forgotten.
He will be sadly missed by his loving and caring sisters, Clara Pace and Laurel (Frank) Buckingham, both of Sydney; brothers, Gerald (Bessie), Murray and Walter (Jean); dear friend and companion Rose ‘Rosa’ MacLeod and many nieces and nephews..
Karl was predeceased by sister, Ellen (Francis) Oakley, brothers, Wilfred ‘Bobby’ (Margaret) and Howard (Florence) and brother-in-law, Roy Pace.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Rev. Bill Burke will officiate. Interment at a later date.
