Dr. Edward Desmond Jones aged 97 years. Surrounded by family, Dr. Edward Desmond Jones passed away peacefully at the Kipnes Centre for veterans in Edmonton, Alberta. Originally from Clones, Ireland. Dr. Jones practiced medicine in Ireland and England before moving to Canada. He practiced medicine in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, before moving to Newfoundland where he continued practicing medicine in Conception Bay North. After his many years, when he finally retired at age 65, he followed four of his sons to Alberta and lived happily in Edmonton up until January 6th 2014. Leaving to mourn, his loving wife Joan; sons: Frank, Maurice, Stuart (Janette), Ferdinand (Binh), Emmanuel (Tina); daughter: Annesta (Paul); grandchildren: Justin (Melanie), Justina (Brad), Jerimiah, Angela (Chase), Desmond, Joan, Emmanuel, Margarita, Connor & Darcy; great grandchildren: Nola, Langdon, Kinsley, Eliza, Leks & Max; brother in law: Charles of California; cousin: Geraldine Conolly; and the rest of the Conolly family along with many other friends and family including those in the north and south of Ireland, Newfoundland, and Alberta. Predeceased by his mother Mary Jones and father Frank Jones of Enniskillen, Ireland; sisters Maureen and Eileen of Montreal and Josephine of California; and brother Jimmy of Vancouver. Remains resting at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Funeral Home 16102, 4th road, Edmonton. Funeral Mass to take place on Monday, 10:00AM January 13th, 2014 at Evergreen Memorial Chapel in Edmonton; Internment at Evergreen cemetery.
