Marjorie Edith Cove
Marjorie Edith (nee Ogden) Cove – it is with much sadness we announce the passing of a creative, colourful, and kindhearted mother, wife, and daughter. Mom slipped away peacefully on Jan. 3, 2014 at the age of 86 after a lengthy illness. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Maggie (Rees) Ogden and was also predeceased by an infant brother along with her sister Viva Chapman and brother Harold Ogden.
Mom was many things in her life, having over the years had avid interests in a variety of pursuits including creative writing, oil painting, and flower gardening, but most importantly she was a compassionate and principled individual who was generous of her time and always looked for goodness in others. She was devoted to her church and unshakeable in her faith. She loved a good laugh even if it was at her own expense, hated housework but loved adventure of any kind. Although born and raised in East Amherst, NS, she was a city girl at heart and loved to socialize. In later years as her illness began to overtake her she found solace and companionship at the shopping mall, and we are eternally grateful for those who kept an eye on her as she made her daily rounds from Timmy’s to Sobey’s. In her earlier years she worked at Barker’s Department Store before moving onto to her most important position as a mother and later, a grandmother.
Besides being survived by her husband Eldred Cove, she is lovingly remembered by children: Shelley, Tammy (Bruce Brooks), Dale (Dale Debra), Susan (Larry Hunter) and her grandchildren: J.D. Brooks, Miranda Brooks, Caitlyn MacDonald, and Catherine Belliveau and a great grandchild Claire Stubbs. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews (Jackie, Keith, Buster, Joyce and Jeanne).
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 1 pm immediately followed by a funeral service at 2 pm, both taking place at Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, Church St, Amherst, NS. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to charity of choice, if so desired.
