It is with great sadness the family of Albert 'Blackie' Digero announces his passing on Jan. 8, 2014 at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Rene and Juliet (Matthys) Digero.
Albert was a coal miner in his earlier years, could fix anything, was an electrician and did T.V. repairs. He was an avid outdoors man and loved to hunt and fish with his brothers at Hunters Mountain and his favorite pastime was boating on the Bras D'or Lakes.
He is survived by his son, Gordon (Elaine), Whitehorse; brother, Louis (Theresa), New Waterford; sister-in-law, Mary; grandchildren, Jason (Shelly), Tove (Calvin), River Ryan, Trina (Adam) and Thekla (Steve), Ont.; great-grandchildren, Damian, Danial, Gabrielle, Jesse, Angelina, Noah, Samantha, Amanda and Sara, as
well as many nieces and nephews and he will be forever missed by his daughter-in-law, Clare.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife, Gloria (Holm); brothers, Henry, Maurice,
and sister, Anna Soldon.
Cremation has taken place and a chapel service in the funeral home will take place Wednesday,
Jan. 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Charles Quann officiating. A luncheon to follow at the K.O.C.,
Plummer Avenue and all are welcome. Burial in Union Grove Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500.
