Jean Dufour
DUFOUR, JEAN J. P. A. - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Retired Cst. Jean Joseph Paul Arthur Dufour. Jean, born in Chicoutimi, Quebec on November 11, 1951, walked away after a long courageous battle of Pancreatic Cancer on January 21, 2014. Leaving behind is loving wife and soul mate, Rita Dufour. Jean is survived by his siblings Murielle Dufour (Roger), Luc Dufour (Helene), Odette Dufour (Guy) and Marc Dufour (Denise). Also survived by his children Natacha LeClerc, Annie Dufour, Isabelle Leclerc and Mathieu Dufour, eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Marthe Tremblay, Paul Emile Dufour and brother Louis. Jean began his career in the Canadian Armed Forces and went on to Royal Military College. Jean had a distinguished 28 year career with the RCMP. He covered postings in New Brunswick, Ottawa and Northwest Territories with the majority of his career working in New Brunswick “J” Division. The proudest moments in his career were serving with the UN in Haiti and Security Detail for former Prime Minister Jean Chretien. Following retirement Jean worked at the New Brunswick Legislative Assembly doing Security Detail. Jean was very passionate about his family and spending time with them. Although miles would separate them Jean was adamant about being in contact with them on a daily basis by way of Face Time or Skype. He loved to fish, hunt, travel, work out at the gym on a daily basis and going for coffee at Tim Horton’s with his buddies. Jean had a way of making an impact on almost every life that he came in contact with creating deep friendships in every area that he lived and worked. Jean’s greatest passion was spending time with the love of his life. Jean knew that when he found Rita he had found his soul mate. They were married in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories February 27, 2004. The love that was shared between the two of them could be seen by all who knew them. It was a love that was cut too short but will live on forever. We want to thank Dr. Peter Fraser, the staff at Ross Drug, Extra Mural and DECH for the great care given to Jean during his illness. We will be FOREVER grateful to Dr. Debora Gowan for the wonderful care and attention given at such a crucial time in our life.
