MALLEY, JOSEPH RAYMOND - April 21, 1945 January 19, 2014 - Raymond died peacefully with his family by his side at the Vancouver General Hospital on Sunday, January 19 after a courageous battle with aggressive leukemia. Raymond was born in Chatham and grew up in Saint John NB. He was graduated from Saint Malachy's High School in 1964 where he had played on the rugby and basketball teams and participated in track and field. After high school he worked in the oil industry at Irving Oil in Saint John. He later moved to Fort McMurray where he worked at Snycrude until his retirement in 1996. After raising four children with his wife of forty-four years Sandra (née Vienot) they retired to Campbell River where he pursued his passion for fishing, gardening and traveling. He is survived by his wife, his four children: Denise and, Bradley of Fort McMurray, AB, Christopher of Calgary, AB and Suzy (Vijay Khurana) of Toronto, ON; and by his three grandsons Thomas, Alexander and Sebastian. He was predeceased by his parents Lorraine (Robichaud) and John Malley. His siblings, four sisters Leona, Shirley, Mary Louise are living in Saint John, NB, Mona lives in Bible Hill, NS and his brother Frank lives in Saint John. Raymond was loved and respected by his family, fishing partners and friends; he will be deeply missed.
Raymond's Life will be celebrated at a Funeral Mass at St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Evergreen & South Alder in Cambell River at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 1, 2014 with a reception to follow at the church. Ashes will be intered at St Joseph's Cemetery, Saint John. NB at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation, 855 West 12th Ave, Rm 190, Vancouver BC, V5Z 1M9 marked for the BMT Unit (www.vghfoundation.ca) or to the charity of your choice. Raymond's family expresses their thanks for the great care given at the Campbell River and Nanaimo general hospitals and especially by the staff at the BMT Unit at Vancouver General Hospital.
