HENRY, JOAN ELIZABETH - After a courageous fight and with family by her side, Joan E. Henry, wife of 35 years to Art Henry, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, she is the daughter of the late Walter and Lillian (Nealy) Mullin. Joan’s very first job was at the pottery factory just off of Bayside Drive with her mom. She later worked at the White House Lodge on the West Side and her son fondly remembers the special treats she would bring home after her shift. Joan finished her career working the assembly line at the Northern Telecom Plant in the late 80’s. She was a lovely seamstress, but was also so very talented in all of her hobbies. She loved to paint and was especially fond of tole painting. She had an interest in wood working and a passion for ceramics. Joan and Art trailered a great deal through the 80’s and 90’s and had many an adventure at Pleasant Lake and Pirates Cove. She also enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. In addition to her husband Art, she is survived by her sons Randy (Terry Smith) Gerawh, Scott (Sylvia) Henry and Kevin Henry; brothers Robert (Kathy) Mullin, Michael Mullin and Chip (Kathy) Parker; sisters Shirley (Darrell) MacAulay and Debbie (Mike) Haynes; grandchildren Taylor, Jeff, Randy, Chloe, Leah, Rebecca, Christopher, Jessica, and Alicia; great grandchildren Tyson, Jacob, Madison and Kenady, as well as, many extended family members. Along with her parents, Joan was also predeceased by her brother James Mullin and sister Wanda Legere.
Arrangements entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 25th, 2014 from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 11 am with interment at a later date in Fernhill Cemetery.
