It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Conrad 'Glen' Newton. Glen died peacefully at the Northside General Hospital on Jan. 23, 2014, following an illness of several months.
Born in Bras d’Or on Jan. 25, 1957, he was the younger son of Conrad and Una (Maclellan) Newton.
A welder by trade, Glen worked at Offshore Fabrication and later as a miner in the Prince Mine and Grand Cache, Alberta.
Besides his parents, Glen is survived by his daughter, Lindsay and son, Conrad Glen both of Fort MacMurray. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Shirley Doublett. Glen had a special place in his heart for Francine Young and her grandson Gabriel.
Glenn was predeceased by his older brother Gordon in 2010.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held at Francis Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at 1p.m.. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bras d’Or, at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of choice.
