It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Andrew Neil Fraser, 65, son of Theresa and the late Gordon Fraser passed away on January 22nd, 2014 at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax with his family at his side.
Andrew leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years, Dorothy. They were the true couple who enjoyed every minute of each others company. They have three wonderful children who will miss their dad dearly: Kelly (home), Michael (Sandra), Stellarton; Glen, New Minas; two beautiful grandchildren, Abigail and Andrew; brothers Alex (Sandra) and George; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Darren.
Andrew graduated from East Pictou and went on to become a plumber/pipe fitter. He was a member of U.A. Local 244 Antigonish and finished his career with Northern Pulp "Scott Paper". Dad was an active member and Elder of the Knox Presbyterian Church. He was one of the founding members of the Blue Mtn. and District Fire Department, serving as fire chief for many years. He was very active in his community. He was an avid sportsman who loved to hunt/fish and spend time at the "camp" in Baddeck with the boys, where he showed off his culinary skills. He also enjoyed meeting the boys at Tim's for "coffee-time" on Monday's.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Knox Presbyterian Church, Blue Mountain with Rev. Gail Johnson-Murdock officiating. Burial will be in the Blue Mountain Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Blue Mountain fire hall.
Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Andrew may be made to the Knox Presbyterian Church, Blue Mountain or the Blue Mountain Fire Department.
