Matheson, J. Donald - 88, Truro, and formerly of Earltown, passed away peacefully at home on January 24, 2014. Born in Rossville, he was the son of the late James G. and Ethel (MacKay) Matheson. He worked for over 30 years for Irving Oil Ltd. in both Truro and Tatamagouche. He and his wife, Joyce, operated Windy Acres Bed and Breakfast for many years. He was a veteran of the Second World War and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 64, Tatamagouche. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce; much loved daughters, Isla Lee and Lianne; grandchildren, Matthew, Jamie and Gillian; sisters-in-law, Edna and Gwen; constant companion, Mizzi the pug. He was predeceased by brothers, John and Willard. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2014 in Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. Royal Canadian Legion Branch 64 will conduct a Veteran’s tribute service at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home. No funeral service by request. Spring burial will be held in Forest Hill Cemetery, Denmark. Family flowers only. Memorial donations to Forest Hill Cemetery or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.
