Born: May 25th, 1919

Olive was born Olive Rebecca Wellwood on May 25, 1919 in
Asquith, Saskatchewan. She enjoyed a very happy childhood with 6 sisters and 4 brothers. In 1945 she married Carl Rousell and moved to his homestead in Doe River where they raised 5 children. As well as farm and family, Olive was always very active in her community. She taught Sunday School and played piano for church. She was a leader in 4H and the Women’s Institute. She hosted the weekly WI radio program on CJDC for several years. Olive enjoyed music and arts and crafts, and was sought out for her beautiful and fanciful decorated cakes. Olive never let aging hold her back, she got her driver’s license in her late 50s, took up bowling in her 60s, and learned to paint in her 70s. But above all, Olive was known for her kind and loving spirit and her generous heart.
Olive was predeceased by her husband Carl, her 4 brothers, and four of her sisters. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her sisters Ella and Dorothy, children Calvin (Sandra), Mary (Wayne), Manley (Brenda), Norman (Mary), Pearl (Terry), Lorraine and Lisa, grandchildren Cindy, Dawn, Neil, Victoria, Davina, John, Ashley, Sherri and Bryan, and great-grandchildren Carey, Kaiden, Kennady, Alexis, Westin, Acadia, Olwyn, Dominic, Zach, Nadiya, Nevyn, Aistlinn, Julia and Blake.
A funeral service was held on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 1:00pm at the Rolla Bible Baptist Church in Rolla, British Columbia. Pastor Bob Rempel officiated. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Olive may be made by donation to the Rotary Manor 1121-90th Avenue Dawson Creek, British Columbia V1G 5A3.
Arrangements were entrusted to Bergeron Funeral Services & Crematorium Ltd.
