Best friend & beloved husband of Joan (nee Thorburn). Loving father to Steven, David (Jenny Salisbury). Cherished brother to Glenn (Chris Walsh, ch-Corrin, Gavin), Pamela (Jim Keith, ch-Ryan, Holly Turpin), & Heather (the late Ken Beer, ch-Meghan, Krista). Brother-in-law to Paul Thorburn (Barb Sharpe, ch-James, Keelin Penny); Brian Thorburn (Mary Wilson, ch-Kye, Samantha); & the late Bob Thorburn (Maureen Dunne, ch-Casey, Jack). Great-Uncle to Tyler & Mackenzie Keith, Rachel & Samuel Turpin. Born & raised in St. John's, Newfoundland. Served 33 years in the Canadian Armed Forces. President & founder of Mercedes Benz Club of America-Ottawa Section. Co-founder & past coordinator of Ottawa Neighborhood Watch. Past president of the Revelstoke Community Association. Visitations on Fri. Jan. 31, at 2-4pm & 7-9pm, & a memorial service on Sat. Feb. 1, at 1pm, both at the Anglican Church of the Resurrection (3191 Riverside Drive, at Walkley Road), where John & Joan were active members.
