Jantje "Jane" Rooseboom (nee Visscher) - 86, of Cambridge Station, Kings County passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born on April 16, 1927 in Dedemsvaart, Netherlands, she was a daughter of the late Roelof and Jentjt Visscher. In 1954 she, her husband and two daughters immigrated to St. Catharine's, Ontario. She was very happy to make Canada her new home and in 1970 the family moved to Nova Scotia. She was a long-time member of the Christian Reformed Church in both Ontario and Nova Scotia. She is survived by a sister, Jenny Waardenburg-Visscher, Netherlands; five children, Jenny Rooseboom (Tony Scott), Hilda (Jan) deGraaf; Arnold Rooseboom (Cathy Potter), Margaret Rooseboom and Rick (Lori) Rooseboom; four granddaughters, Sheila deWeever (Simon Mawson), Tamara Rooseboom, Tessa Rooseboom and Claire Rooseboom; foster daughter, Monique Newbolt; nephew, Roland Waardenburg, Netherlands. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gerrit "George" Hendrik Rooseboom, two sisters and one brother in the Netherlands. Cremation has taken place and there was no visitation by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Mike Veenema officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Berwick Cemetery. Family flowers only by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses or the Alzheimer Society.
