Ronnie Marman
Passed in: Sydney
Passed on: February 2nd, 2014
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of E. Ronald ‘Ronnie’ Marman, age 41, on Sunday, February 2, 2014 in Halifax following an accident on Hunter’s Mountain while doing what he loved, snowmobiling.
Born in Sydney, Ronnie was the son of Ronald and Rita (D’Angelo) Marman, Sydney.
Ronnie obtained his Degree of Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia (TUNS) in 1996. He was employed at the Canadian Coast Guard College as a teaching instructor.
This world has lost a GIANT personality with his witty sense of humour and infectious chuckle. Ronnie had a tremendous zest for life and lived every moment to the fullest. He spent many hours building and flying model planes at the flying field with his friends, Glen Miller, Mike Barrie, George Carabin, and many other members of the Cape Breton RC Modellers. Ronnie enjoyed riding his motorcycle and snowmobile rides with his cousin Alan MacLeod and co-worker Dave Blythe, as well as his weekly competitive squash matches with his fellow co-workers David Gerbasie and Andrew Cebula.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Carrie (Hayes) who was the LOVE of his life; sister Raylene (Geoff) Allaby, New Brunswick; in-laws Tommy and Beverly Hayes; brother-in-law Jerry (Belinda) Hayes; sisters-in-law Sherry (Steve) Nugent and Devin Hayes (Darren), Alberta; his nieces Logan, Riley and Morgan and nephews AJ, Hayden and Mason. He is also survived by his aunts Mary Marman, Sydney and Louise (James) Sexton, Ontario; his uncle Frankie D’Angelo, Sydney; many cousins and his special medical family in Sydney and Halifax, particularly Dr. Murdock Smith.
Visitation for the late Mr. Marman will take place Friday, February 7, 2014 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 8, at St. Theresa’s Church at 11 a.m. with Father Jim Oliver officiating. Internment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Donations in Ronnie’s memory can be made to the Canadian Red Cross or to a charity of choice.
