GAUDET, Donald Joseph – Age 85, The family of Donald Joseph Gaudet are deeply saddened to announce his passing on February 7, 2014 at The Meadows Home for Special Care, Yarmouth. Born in Charlestown Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Roger and Marie Rose Gaudet. Donald had a diverse career in both the United States and Canada. He was a 40+ year member of the Clare Knights of Columbus and also served as a director on the Saint-Mary’s Credit Union for many years. Donald served with distinction in the Korean War, 213th Field Artillery Battalion, U. S. Army from December 1950 to December 1952. He was also a long standing member of the Saulnierville Royal Canadian Legion Branch. Donald was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan and shared his passion with his family and friends. In retirement he could be found with his many friends at Tim Horton’s. His favorite things were: berry picking in the summer, family gatherings, his incredible neighbors, and dominating at checkers. The family sincerest thanks go out to the Meadows staff for his time there and to all those who visited him. Donald is survived by his wife, Mary Patricia Gaudet; children, Donna Gaudet, Steven Gaudet (Lise), Brian Gaudet, Scott Gaudet (Catherine), Neal Gaudet (Debbie), Glen Gaudet, Gary Gaudet; brothers, Gerald (Anne-Marie), Ralph, Andrew (Micheline), Ernest (Joye); grandchildren, Ellen, Karyn, Jamie, Nathan, Kevin, Carli, Christopher, Natalie, Ethan and Reilly; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Jeanette and brother, Robert. Funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. Visitation was from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11 in Yarmouth. A funeral mass was celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from Saint Ambrose Cathedral, Yarmouth, Father Gerald David officiated. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Donald’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
