passed away on February 12, 2014 at the age of 87. She was born May 28, 1926 in Bonavista, a small fishing village on the eastern coast of Newfoundland. She met her husband, Albert P. Mayne, USN, while working as a telephone operator on the Argentia Naval Base. They built a home on a bay in Dunville where they began their family of six children. They moved to Long Island in 1963, and a few years later to Cherry Hill, NJ. In 1980 Kay and Al retired to Orlando, Florida, where they enjoyed having their children and grandchildren visit. Catherine was an avid knitter and a leader in the "Sunshine Ladies" who knitted things for the needy. Her other passions included being with dogs, watching the birds and doing puzzles. After Albert passed away in 2005 she moved to Atlanta to be closer to three of her children. Family and friends will always remember her thoughtfulness, endearing smile and all the wonderful things she made for them! Catherine is predeceased by her husband Albert Paul, and her son Alan Phillip. Surviving children include Dr. Paul Mayne of Marietta, GA; Cathy Mayne of Henniker, NH; Donna Mayne of Brigantine, NJ; Terry (Colella) Donovan of Jacksonville, FL; and Rex Mayne of Alpharetta, GA.
