BREWER, FREDA J. - November 6, 1929 - February 14, 2014 - Freda Jean Brewer of Woodstock, N.B passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014 at the Carleton Manor, Woodstock, N.B. Born at Woodstock, N.B on November 6, 1929. Predeceased by her parents Archibald and Laura (Ganter) Steeves, her husband Alexander MacInnes Brewer (November 16, 2010).Freda is survived by daughters, Barbara (Derrick Taylor) of Barrhead, Alberta & Kelly of Barrie, Ontario; sisters, Lillian Bull (Ralph) and Sheila Varney; brother, Archie Steeves (Linda). Predeceased by sister Winnifred Vantassel, brother Robert Steeves, brothers-in-law Ken Varney and Wellie Vantassel, nieces and nephews, Freda grew up in Woodstock, N.B. After graduating from high school she attended Teachers College in Fredericton. She moved to Toronto where she married Alex Brewer (of Plaster Rock) and they raised their family. For many years Freda worked for A&P head office then continued her career with Beaver Lumber. When she retired she and Alex moved back to New Brunswick where they made their home in Northampton. Freda and Alex were active members in St. Luke's Anglican Church in Woodstock. Freda also reconnected with her roots in education and enjoyed tutoring in the area. She loved quilting and crafts and spent many hours involved in volunteer service. She enjoyed socializing with friends and neighbours and was always there to offer her help to anyone who needed it. She will be greatly missed. We will love you always and return you now to God and your loved ones who have passed before you.
Visitation from The Culberson Funeral Home on Monday, February 17, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services to be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 11:00 am from The Culberson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Shirley Noseworthy officiating. Interment at Kirk Cemetery in the Spring.
