DOUCETTE, Regina Anne – 104 years, Villa St. Joseph-du-Lac, Dayton, formerly of Hubbard’s Point, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born August 25, 1909 in Hubbard’s Point, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Louise (Hubbard) Melanson. Regina was a homemaker, having also worked as a housekeeper for a number of people. She loved flowers, and enjoyed gardening, picking blueberries, playing bingo, sewing and cooking for her family – a family she loved very dearly. Surviving are children, Alcide (Patsy) Doucette, Hubbard’s Point; Benjamin “Blint” (Marie) Doucette, Hubbard’s Point; Bernie (Barb) Doucette, Tusket; Cora (Joe) Frost, Pubnico, as well as 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren and a great-great-great grandchild. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Alexandre “Potash” Doucette; children, Leonard Doucette, Louise Bourque, Helen Doucette and Remi “Jarmine” Doucette, as well as by sisters, Lillian Muise and Marion Foster and a grandson. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, with prayers at 8 p.m., both at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral mass took place at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 22 at Saint Anne’s Catholic Church, Ste. Anne-du-Ruisseau, Father Albeni d’Entremont officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Anne’s Church Building Fund, the Villa St. Joseph-du-Lac Foundation or to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Villa, the staff of 4-East at the Yarmouth Hospital, as well as Dr. Cain for the care and concern they showed their mother.
