The Lord has a beautiful angel. Betty Butler of Bell Island, NL, passed peacefully at the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre, St. John's on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the age of 77 (born January 20, 1937) with her children at her side. Leaving to mourn daughter Natalie Skanes (Roger Lesage) of Montreal, QC; son Geoffrey Skanes (Geraldine, nee Young) of Ottawa, ON; grandchildren Natasha and Robyn Skanes; brother Hugh Butler (June) of St. John's NL; sister Marie Gray (Edward) of Fredericton, NB; niece Linda Giannou (nee Case) of St. John's; nephew Father David Butler (RC PP of Paradise, NL); and many other nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Randolph (Ranny), William (Bill) and Hunter; sisters Grace Parsons, Kitty Smith, Lillian Case and parents Harold (Hal) and Mary Anne (nee Hunter) Butler. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors of the 7th Floor West of St. Clare's Mercy Hospital and the Palliative Care unit of the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre, St. John's. She was loved and cared for by many-many thanks from the family. Her remains will be cremated. Visitation will be at Pendergast's Funeral Home on Bell Island, NL from 1-5 PM on Sunday, February 23, 2014. Funeral service will be held Monday, February 24, 2014 at 2 PM at St. Cyprian and St. Mary Anglican Church on Bell Island, NL. A reception, following the service will be held at St. Michael's Hall, Bell Island, NL. Interment will follow at a later date. Flowers are gratefully accepted or a donation (preferred) to the Anglican Parish of St. Cyprian and St. Mary, Bell Island, NL, in memory of Betty Butler.
