Daniel Thomas  Arsneau

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Thomas Arsneau, 79, of Amherst on Monday, February 24, 2014 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan with his loving family by his side.
Born February 19, 1935 in Maccan, Daniel was a son of the late Frank and Margaret “Annie” (Hurley) Arsneau.
As a young man, Daniel joined the Canadian military, where he was deployed in Germany as a peacekeeper. The military life allowed him to visit Paris and England. After his return, he worked in the coal mines in Springhill as well as Construction and Ironworker building bridges. In his later years he worked in Alberta as a house painter where he lived for 30 years. Daniel enjoyed the outdoor life, especially fishing, hunting, camping, travelling and spending time with his beloved grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Carol (Bruce) Beecraft, AB, Deborah Grace Gouchie, AB, Sheila Sippel, BC, Connie (Michael) Smith, Amherst, Danny (Ellie), NB, Rose Arsneau, NB, Morris, NB, and Keith, AB; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sisters, Jean (Albert) Stanley, Maccan and Stella (Conrad) Roberts, Joggins; brother, Harry “Buddy”, NB; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Besides his parents, Daniel was predeceased by his wife, Constance Lillian Ella (Lewis) Arsneau; sisters, Dorothy O’Brien, and Emma Marks; brothers, John, Gilbert and Aussie.
His remains are resting in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with visiting on Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until funeral service at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Interment will take place in the spring in the Riverside Cemetery in Tidnish.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses, doctors and staff on the Surgical Unit and Palliative Care for all their great kindness shown to Daniel and his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Daniel’s memory may be made to the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre Palliative Care Unit.
