MELANSON, R. MICHAEL "MIKE" - R. Michael “Mike” Melanson passed away on Sunday, March 2nd, 2014 surrounded by his family at The Saint John Regional Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Saint John on October 19th, 1946 he was the son of the late Albert and Rosalie (Vautour) Melanson. Mike retired from Irving Pulp & Paper following 37 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at the camp with family and friends. Mike is survived by his loving wife Gail (Williams), sons Jeffrey (Patti), Dale (Amy), Dwayne (Meghan Jensen), daughter-in-law Adrienne Melanson, brothers George (Roseann), Paul (Mary) Laurie (Carmella), Jack (Kim) and Bill (Brenda), sister Rose-Anne (Mike), grandchildren; Jake, Noah, Adam, Darren, and Corey, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Mike was predeceased by nephews Bruce Melanson, John Lyons and Robert Lyons.
In keeping with his wishes there will be no visitation prior to the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Saint Rose of Lima Church at 12:00 o’clock, on Thursday, March 6th, 2014, Father Gerry White celebrant. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Bruce Melanson Memorial Scholarship Fund.
