GRINGHUIS, HENK (HENDRIK) - 1955 - 2014 - Henk Gringhuis, beloved husband and soul mate of Maryann Arnold, passed away peacefully with his love by his side at their home in Upper Gagetown on Tuesday, March 4th after a courageous battle with cancer. Henk was born March 22, 1955 in Niewe Pekela, Holland. Henk is predeceased by his parents Hendrik Gringhuis of Niewe Pekela, Holland and Anje Doornbos of Siddeburen, Holland. As well as his wife Maryann, Henk is survived by his daughter, Elsien Gringhuis of Arnhem, Holland; his brothers, Jaap (Attie) of Groningen, Holland, Ed (Wilma) of Hamilton, Ontario, and Auke (Gonnie) of Helmond, Holland; his step children Jeremy Pott (Jenn) of Victoria, British Columbia, Jenny Rolls (Matt) of Quantico, Virginia, USA, and Jessica Pott (Jean-Michel) of Edmonton, Alberta; his two beautiful little step-granddaughters, Eleanor Rolls and Lily Pott who will miss their “Steppie” but never forget him; his seven brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews in Canada and Holland; best friends Meta and Yvon of Breukelyn, Holland, Hans and Jeanne of Wageningen, Holland; his constant companion and protector Millie; and many friends from the Boyce Farmers Market and Gallery 78. Henk was employed as a social worker in Holland prior to moving to Canada with his wife Maryann in 2001. Since 2009 Henk was self employed as an artist creating hundreds of wonderful paintings recognized and owned by admiring people from all over the world. Henk’s beautiful spirit and his unending love for his wife Maryann and his art will live on forever.
A celebration of Henk’s life and his art will take place March 22, 2014 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Gallery 78, 796 Queen Street, Fredericton N.B. For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to Hospice Fredericton or the Fredericton SPCA.
