Gladys Mae "Glady" Watters - 90, of Wolfville, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at home. Born in Grand Pré, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Isabella (George) Guptell. She was a veteran of the Second World War, having served with C.W.A.C. as a Training Sergeant, having achieved the rank of Platoon Sergeant. She owned and operated Watters Book Store in Wolfville. Glady was a past-president of the Wolfville Curling Club, Ladies Division and a past-president of the KenWo Golf Club, Ladies Division. She was a life-member and past-secretary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Dr. C. B. Lumsden Branch No. 74, Wolfville. Glady was also an avid bridge player. She is survived by a son, William (Wanda), Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; a sister, Margaret (William) Smith, Hantsport; two grandchildren, Kelly and Dane; a great grandson, Eoghan; nieces, nephews and several relatives in Scotland. She was predeceased by her husband, William; a sister, Marie Flieger; two brothers, Charles and Blake. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. There will be no visitation, by request. A combined graveside service and Royal Canadian Legion service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 in the Willow Bank Cemetery, Wolfville. Donations in memory may be made to the Annapolis Valley Palliative Care Program. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Lori Burgess and Paulette Gash with the Palliative Care Program and all the angels with the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses and home support, as well as Mr. Garry Balcom.
