It is with great sadness that the families of Prescott Layden announce his ­passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL, on Thursday, March 6th, 2014, in his 89th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his children: Jean Vollick, Jerry Layden (Goldie), Johnny Layden (Eileen), Janice Marsh (Dave) and Kim Robertson (Scott); his loving companion, Mary Ezekiel, son-in-law, Murray Cooling; his 12 grandchildren: Sharon, Darin, Connie, Nancy, Nicole, Christal, Jerry, Brandon, Jamie, Michael, Melissa and Robert; his 14 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren. Also leaving to mourn a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, family and friends. Prescott was predeceased by his wife, Diana Layden (nee Penney); his daughter, Mary Cooling and son-in- law, Harry Vollick. The family will be receiving family and friends at Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake, NL, on Saturday, March 8th, 2014, from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Sunday, March 9th, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. at the Emmanuel Pentecostal Church on Bennetts Road, Deer Lake, NL, with Pastor George Coles officiating. The burial will follow at the Pentecostal section of Mt. Patricia Cemetery in Corner Brook, NL. Flowers and/or donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice in memory of Mr. Layden and would be gratefully appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake, NL.
