It is with deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Winnie Gladys Buffett, 90, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt on Monday, March 10, 2014, at the Northside Community Guest Home.
Born in Rose Blanche, Newfoundland, Winnie was the daughter of the late Aaron and Elizabeth (Best) Shepherd.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney and also a member of the North Sydney Senior Citizens & Pensioners Club.
She is survived by her only son, Jim (Karen) Buffett and her cherished grandson, Peter Buffett, Sydney Mines. Also surviving are her brother, Charlie Shepherd and three sisters, Ellen Bugden, Hazel Johnston and Harriett (Russell) Scott, all of North Sydney, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Buffett, her sister, Marion (Robert) Cadden, sisters-in-law, Henrietta Shepherd, Anne (Dorman) Poole, brothers-in-law, Traver Bugden, Fred Johnston and James (Amelia) Buffett.
Visitation for Winnie will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Trinity Anglican Church in Sydney Mines with Rev. Stacey Lemoine officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date.
