Passed peacefully away at Saint Luke's Home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the age of 88. Max was a Veteran of WWII and long-standing member of the R.C.L. Branch #1. Predeceased by his father and mother Samuel and Rosanna Harding (nee Bungay); brothers Lawrence and Frank; sister Evelyn; sister-in-law Jean; and brother-in-laws Clarence and Jack. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife of sixty years Winnie (nee Mansfield); his children: Eric (Cheryl) Harding, C.B.S.; Debra (Larry) Alteen, St. John's; Elizabeth (Hugh) Carlton, Calgary; his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy: Carly, Colin, and Heather Harding; Sarah and Laura Alteen; and Jillian Carlton; sister: Stella Emeigh; sister-in-law: Shirley (Gerry) White; as well as a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and special friend Jim. Special thanks to Drs. Greenland, Vaughn-Jackson, and Rideout who have cared for him over the last number of years; as well as the staff at Saint Luke's home for providing extraordinary care and support. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Monday, March 17, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to be held at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Max's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Society and Saint Luke's Home.
