Wayne Grant

GRANT, WAYNE - The passing of Wayne Audbur Grant occurred suddenly at his residence in Maugerville on Sunday, March 16, 2014. He was the son of the late Audbur and Bernice (Messer) Grant of Canterbury, NB. He was born in Woodstock on February 13, 1952. He is survived by his loving longtime partner Sharon McLeod of Maugerville, NB. Wayne also survived by his sisters, Sylvia Sinclair (John), Lois Flynn (Carl) and Carole Ford all of Fredericton, brother, Guilford Grant (Elaine) Kentville, NS, brother in law Lorne Hallett Victoria Corner, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents Wayne was predeceased by a sister Gail Hallett. Wayne worked for 34 years as a lineman for NB Power, retiring in 2005. He was also an avid woodsman and continued to work in this capacity until he was diagnosed with cancer. Wayne was always a hard and conscientious worker and had an excellent work ethic. Taken from us far too soon, he will be sadly missed by all his immediate family as well as Sharon and the entire Banks family and his dog” Teddy”. In testament to his personal nature Wayne made many friends over the years throughout the province. Many kept in contact with him during his courageous battle with cancer and this was very much appreciated. He was a wonderful and devoted son and cared for his father and mother many years at his home in Woodstock and later made countless visits with his mother at the nursing home.
Visitation will be held at The Carleton Funeral Home & Crematorium, 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville on Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 2 to 5. A grave side service will be held at the Canterbury Cemetery at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to any charity of the donors’ choice would be appreciated by the family. Messages of condolence may be sent online to www.carletonfuneralhome.ca “Serving All Faiths & within the Means of All”
