Bower, Harold George “Sonny”, age 77, of Martock, Hants Co., passed away on Friday, March 14, 2014, in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, with his family by his side. Born on June 14, 1936, in Birchtown, Shelburne Co., he was the son of the late Harold and Eldora (Hamilton) Bower. He was employed with W. T. Dauphinee’s, Heritage Memorials and later with Perry Rand Bus Company. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He had oxen for many years and enjoyed attending local fairs and was invited to the CNE in Toronto on several occasions. Most importantly he loved his wife and family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Vera Alveta Swaine; his children, Patricia (David) Houghton, Upper New Cornwall; George Bower, Martock; Gail (Steven) Tracey, Hebbville; Cheryl (Darrell) Bullock, Windsor, 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn (Gordon) Deinstadt, Ethel Garber, Shirley (Bill) Murphy and Goldie (Gary) Bower, brothers, Thomas (Carol) Bower, all of Shelburne Co., Kenneth (Phyllis) Bower, Sussex, NB; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Faith Bower in infancy. A memorial service was 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, Windsor. The Rev. Hedley Hopkins officiated, followed by a private family interment at the Centre Falmouth Cemetery, Town Road, Falmouth and reception at the Falmouth Baptist Church Hall.
