SACOBIE, SERGEANT PHILIP RAYMOND - Sergeant Philip Raymond Sacobie passed away unexpectedly in Edmonton Alberta on March 7th, 2014, at the age of 41. Sgt. Sacobie was born June 5, 1972 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Sgt. Philip Sacobie is predeceased by his father Raymond Sacobie. Sgt. Sacobie will be much missed by his mother Sylvia, brothers Michael (Angel), Andrew, sister Susan (David), common-law wife Karen, daughter Ivy, and son Daniel. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Sgt. Sacobie was a skilled arborist which he learned from his father and named his business Raymond's Son Tree Service. A dedicated Soldier and family man, Sgt. Sacobie loved life. He always had time for his family and friends. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who tremendously enjoyed the outdoors. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast, a passion shared by him and his fellow soldiers. Sgt. Sacobie was an active member in the Aboriginal community, a member of St. Mary's First Nation; he particularly took an interest in Aboriginal youth programs. He was able to make a significant contribution through the Bold Eagle program of which he devoted a lot of time and effort towards mentoring Aboriginal youth. Sergeant Philip Raymond Sacobie will be greatly missed by many.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 22nd, 1 pm at St. Mary's Cultural Centre. 150 Cliffe St, Fredericton. A reception will follow at the same location.
