It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of George Jones at Harbourstone Enhanced Care on Monday, March 17, 2014.
He was the son of the late Elsie and Leslie Jones, Tower Road.
Dad was the owner of George Jones Fuels for many years and a long haul trucker, hauling all over Canada and the U.S.A, and was also a fisheries officer in his earlier years. He had many stories to tell of his trips on the road He greatly enjoyed fishing and going to card games.
He is survived by his children, Georgina (Cory), Donnie (Sarah), Donna (Tommy), Jimmy (Lisa), Susan (Dave), Debbie (Greg); sister, Elsie MacLeod; brothers, Billy, Leslie and Jerry. He is also survived by stepchildren, Robin, Tammy, Michael, Bobby; grandchildren, Greg (Shauna), Cindy (Jason), Darren (Leigh), Aaron, Colten, Kaitlyn, Kristin, Conner, Samantha, Donnie, Corry, Mikayla, Amy, Alden, Christina and David, also many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Elizabeth; brother, Clyde and son-in-law, Dan Kiley.
Dad will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Thank you to all the wonderful staff of Soldier’s Cove for looking after Dad for the past year.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, March 21, 2014, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of ones choice.
