William Herbert David 'Dave' Wade

Born In: Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

Passed in: River Ryan, Canada
Passed on: March 18th, 2014

It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of William Herbert David 'Dave' Wade, 66, on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in Hamilton, Ont., he was a son of the late Herbert and Lilly (MacCormick) Wade.
Dave joined the Canadian Forces as a clerk where he served for 10 years then remustered as CEP Tech until retiring from the Reg. force. This was followed by an additional 12 years in the Reserve Force as a clerk. Dave gave very generously of himself to a host of groups, not least of which was Scouting at all levels from his youth to present. He served on the executive of the United Nations Peacekeepers Association, The Army, Navy, Airforce Veterans in Canada as well as the Legion simultaneously. Dave was a devoted family man, scouting trainer leader, group committee assistant, regional commisioner, and St. John's Ambulance trainer. Dave was happiest when surrounded by youth of all ages that he could give his outdoor skills and knowledge to. In essence, Dave gave more of himself then he gave to himself.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Leonie Wade (nee Kanne); daughters, Barbara Jean Lillian Wade, Susan Elizabeth Pearl Wade, both at home, Janet Louise Miller, River Ryan; son, Matthew David Herbert (Shalys), Edmonton, Alta.; sister, Pearl (Robert) Davie, Hamilton, Ont.; grandchildren, Trystan, Davielyn, Nicole and Michelle.
Besides his parents, Dave was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 21 from 6-8 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Saturday, March 22 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, River Ryan, with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard's Parish Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford.
Donations in his memory may be made to Scouts Canada, Cape Breton Area.
Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
'Help us O Lord to love thee day by day,
To enjoy our work, to enjoy our play.
To follow your lead, O Lord,
and to give all our days in Scouting's Way.'
