It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother, Winnifred Seymour. Winnie passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in New Haven on June 4, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Mary (Warr) Smith. She was a lifelong member of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Neil’s Harbour. She was a long time employee of Buchanan Memorial Hospital, Neil’s Harbour.
Winnie will be sadly missed by her husband Herbert, daughter Della (Stewart) MacDonald, son David (Jordi), and her three cherished grandsons; Aaron MacDonald, Ewan and Nicholas Seymour, and Bailey and Olivia Symes, who thought of her as their grandmother, and her guardian angels Laura and Henry Rose. Also left to mourn are her sisters Marybelle Rogers, Miriam Organ and Ann (David) Brown, her brother Jim (Eleanor) Smith, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Rosie, and brothers John, Fred, Everett, Clifford and Stuart.
Visitation for Winnie Seymour will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Neil’s Harbour. The funeral service will take place on Friday at 2:00 p.m. in St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, with Rev. Carolyn Sharpe officiating. A reception will follow the service.
