Stephen Crosthwaite

CROSTHWAITE, STEPHEN - Stephen “Poobie” Samuel Crosthwaite, 49, of Hillside, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on March 20, 2014. Born in Charlottetown, PEI, he was a son of Beulah Crosthwaite (nee Garland) of Hillside, and the late Paul Crosthwaite who passed away in 2010. Stephen worked as a truck driver, and lived and worked in Alberta for several years. His one big hope this winter was to get well enough to be able to go sledding with his friend Big Al, just a short ride. For the last 8 months, lymphedema has taken a toll on his body and has caused much suffering. He enjoyed travelling with his friends to the CAT 250 Pro Stock races each year in Geary. His girls meant everything to him, and he loved them dearly. Family gatherings were important to him. Stephen is survived by his companion of 25 years, Michele Letain of Hillside, his girls: Meaghan and Emily; his mother, Beulah Crosthwaite of Hillside; his sister, Lisa Gillies (Brent) of Anagance; his brother, Russell “Rusty” Bennett of Riverside Albert; his step-mother, Joan Crosthwaite of Moncton; his step-sisters: Valerie Colpitts (Rob) and Krista Stuart (Leroy), all of Riverview; his step-brother, Rick Stuart (Carol) of Colpitts Settlement; as well as by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Armstrong’s Funeral Home, 33 Russell Street, Petitcodiac, from where visitation will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm; the funeral service will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the First Elgin Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Adams presiding. Interment will be held in Hillside Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to a Living Memorial for his girls would be appreciated by the family.
