ROCKWELL, Ronald Blaine “Ron” – age 80, New Minas, Kings Co., passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, in Blomidon Court, Greenwich, Kings Co. He was born on Church Street, Kings Co. on November 12, 1933, and was the son of the late Leigh and Eva (Benedict) Rockwell. Ron enjoyed baseball, hockey, gardening and picking apples and he loved animals, especially horses. In his retirement, Ron liked sitting on the “liars bench” at the County Fair Mall in New Minas, sharing stories and laughter with friends and passersby. He truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was always the life of the party. Ron loved singing, dancing and country music and his rendition of “Family Bible” will live in the hearts of all who knew him. His big smile and knee-slapping laugh will be missed. In Ron’s younger days he worked for the Cornwallis Fruit Company. He spent most of his working life as a carpenter and worked for various contractors including Robie Webster, V.C. Woodworth, Topline Ventures and Vern MacDonald. Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie (Fitzgerald) (Hines) Rockwell; stepsons, Arthur and Donald Hines; brother, Gordon Rockwell. He is survived by his brother, Robert (Sharon) Rockwell, Waterville; sisters, Thelma Walsh, Wilmot; Jean Shepherd, Aylesford; Eunice (Carl) Doherty, Waterville; many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. As per his wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside service will take place in the Starrs Point Cemetery and announced at a later date with Rev. Leon Langille officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to any charity. His family would like to thank the staff at both Tibbetts Home For Special Care, Wilmot, and Blomidon Court, Greenwich, for their wonderful care and compassion shown to their brother, Ron.
